Runwell Commoners Cricket Club

Runwell Commoners were founded in 2001 as a result of the merger of two teams, Runwell Cricket Club, from Wickford, and Old Commoners Cricket Club, from Billericay. The two teams had known and played against each other for several years prior to the merger, and both sets of players formed long lasting friendships, both on and off the field. However, in later years both teams had struggled with a decreasing number of players, and indeed some weeks found it difficult to field a team of eleven on a regular basis. This being the case they decided to call a meeting of both teams one dark winters evening and begin proceedings for the formation of a brand new team, so bringing together both team's resources, assets and players to pool these into the formation of a single Club.

Runwell Commoners CC was born.

In the short time since its formation the Club has grown in strength and now boasts over 25 playing members. We currently participate in friendly, yet always competitive matches, and we have organised and enjoyed Club tours to The Isle of Wight, South Devon and Bournemouth, raising money for various local charities as well as competing against local teams in the area.

In addition to the Cricket we have an active social scene for Club Members and their families , holding events such as Quiz Nights, Picnics, Barbecues, Pub Evenings, etc. The Club prides itself on being a family Club and we hope that this will form the basis for its continuation.
